University of New Haven Scholarships for International Students Application Process

NOTE: By applying to the University of New Haven, you are automatically considered for an academic scholarship and no additional application is necessary.

Application Process:

  • To be considered for one of our academic scholarships, all you need to do is apply for full-time undergraduate admission. If accepted, you will automatically be considered for an academic scholarship.
  • Award decisions will be based upon your academic credentials at the time of your admissions decision.
  • Students must have a completed application for admission on file by May 1 for the fall semester or January 1 for the spring semester in order to be considered for an academic scholarship.
  • Awards are based upon the availability of funds.
  • The scholarships are partial merit scholarships and the student must have met our English language proficiency requirement.

Types of University of New Haven Graduate Scholarships

  1. Presidential Scholarship • $21,000 – $26,000
  2. Distinguished Scholar Awards • $15,000 – $20,000
  3. Charger Award • $10,000 – $14,000

Presidential Scholarship $21,000 – $26,000

A student who has achieved academic success in high school is considered for this scholarship. The Presidential Scholarship varies depending on the student’s high school performance.

Awards range from $21,000 – $26,000 per academic year.The Presidential Scholarship is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining satisfactory academic progress towards a bachelor’s degree.

It is renewable for up to a maximum of ten semesters and applies only to tuition.

Distinguished Scholar Awards • $15,000 – $20,000

Students who have achieved academic success in high school but may not meet the requirements for the First-Year Presidential Scholarship are considered for this award. The award ranges from $15,000 – $20,000.

The Distinguished Scholar Award is guaranteed for your first year and renewal each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining satisfactory academic progress towards a bachelor’s degree.

It is renewable for up to a maximum of ten semesters and applies only to tuition.

The Charger Award $10,000 – $14,000

This award is presented to students who exhibit strong and consistent academic performance, but may not qualify for one of the other academic awards (Presidential and Distinguished Scholarships).

The Charger Award is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining a required minimum GPA and satisfactory progress towards a bachelor’s degree.

It is renewable for up to a maximum of eight semesters and applies only to tuition.

Honors Scholarship • $1,000

Applications for this program are by invitation and require supplemental documentation. Students who are accepted will be notified and the scholarship amount will be added to any merit-based scholarship awarded. The Honors Scholarship is renewable if you maintain the requirements of the University’s Honors Program.

Transfer Scholar Award • $12,000 – $24,000

The Transfer Scholar Award is intended for full-time students who are transferring from another college or university and have completed 12 credit hours at their transfer institution and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship awards vary depending on the student’s GPA but range from $12,000 – $24,000.

If a transfer student demonstrates academic success but has less than 12 credit hours completed, the student will be evaluated for a scholarship based on the First-Year academic scholarship.

The Transfer Scholar Award is renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining satisfactory progress towards a bachelor’s degree.
